Colette talks a lot about food in her books. From the dishes prepared by Sido in her childhood, to those from the music hall period, to those savoured during her travels near and far, to those eaten in Italy, to the simple meals from the days of rationing - Colette has been through two wars - to the refined ones from the luxury restaurants in the later years. The food from all these different periods in her life, not only reflects her own personal history, but also that of France and Europe.
